HOPS – Healthy options project Skopje is a civil society association which has been actively implementing its programs and activities in Skopje and other towns in the Republic of Macedonia since 1997. In 1997 for the first time HOPS introduced the first needle exchange programs in the Republic of Macedonia in order to prevent HIV/AIDS among people using drugs and their families, and three years later, in 2000 HOPS started implementing the first support program for sex male and female workers in Skopje. Since then, HOPS successfully develops and implements programs for reduction of drug related harm, HIV/AIDS prevention and other sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections, as well as programs for social inclusion of the vulnerable and marginalized communities in the Republic of Macedonia.

MISSION

Promotion, respect and protection of human rights and freedoms due to advancement of health and socioeconomic status of all people, especially of drug users, sex workers and other marginalized communities based on the principles of harm reduction, through equal access to services and assistance, community empowerment, capacity building, research, analyses and advocacy.
