The Coalition Margins was founded in 2007 as an informal joint platform and as a result of the joint efforts and striving of several organizations: HOPS – Healthy options project Skopje, H.E.R.A., IZBOR – Strumica and EGAL. Since 2011, the Coalition has been registered as an individual entity, i.e. as a non-governmental organization whose founders are: HOPS – Healthy options project Skopje, H.E.R.A., IZBOR – Strumica, EGAL and STAR-STAR. Since 2017, member organization of the coalition is also Stronger together – association for support of people living with HIV in Macedonia.
VISION
The Coalition Margins promotes a world where all people are equal and a world without discrimination, a world where everyone can enjoy the universal human rights and where respect of diversity, the right to choice and social justice are the basic principles of a democratic and free society.
MISSION
The Coalition Margins promotes protection and respect of the fundamental human rights of marginalized communities, focusing on LGBTI people, drug users, male and female sex workers, people living with HIV and marginalized women. The Coalition operates through advocacy, research and analyses, essential inclusion of the marginalized communities in the creation and implementation of the policies, education of all involved parties, promotion of the cultural practices of the marginalized communities, as well as networking and building alliances with the civil society.
